Directories are NOT Dead!
In response to this comment
Are you serous, directories are dead?
Directories are as a vital to the Internet as the Internet it's self.
How do you think Google and other SE find out about new websites. They use directories to help them crawl.
Not to mention the SEO benefits of a directory. How many of you out there pay a monthly fee to have your link displayed on another website?
Every successful webmaster currently does and or has done it I guarantee it.
Let's say you pay 15.00 to 25.00 per month for a PR5 backlink on a NON directory website.
Doesn't seem like such a bad deal until you add it up.
15.00 - 25.00 x 12 = 180.00 - 300.00 per year
Not take a directory review or donation submission for example. Some are yearly and some are permanent with prices ranging from 10.00 up to 75.00 for a editor review.
Seems like a much better deal to me to pay at the most 75.00 a year verse 180.00 - 300.00 for a PR5 link.
Check the links below, this is what happened after one PR update (all PR5 detail pages). Not to mention the fact that you have an additional link from the category you are listed in.

The above is just a quick sample.
Not everyone is able to create stong backlinks through traditional link baiting.
Directories are a great addition to any link building strategy.
When I see a webmaster willing to pay for a directory review, I see a webmaster who cares about building a successful website.
You say directories are dead I say they are just reaching maturity.
Although I do feel differently about deeplink directories which you can read on my blog.
