A business directory is a resource where you can find a group of websites that are related by business subjects. In a business directory you will find main categories which are then broken down further into subcategories.
For users a business directory makes it's extremely easy to find a specific niche with in the business industry. For instance is a user was looking for business that sells homes such as a real estate agent he could look in the Real Estate category of a business directory. Once in the real estate category the user could then find a real estate business broken down by location.
On the other end of the spectrum and business directory helps the actual business by connecting them with people that are interested in finding their service. Usually for a nominal review fee the website owner can submit his or her website to the business directory and if approved a listing will be created for that website.
There are also offline business directories such as the Yellow Pages. The Yellow Pages serve the same purpose of providing a user with the content he or she are looking for. The term Yellow Pages is used for business directories because the business section is printed on yellow pager. White paper is reserved for residential listings.
