Society can be broadly defined as a group of individuals who forge relationships and share social bonds. People who agree to work in unison for mutual benefits can be collectively called a community or society. The size of these groups can vary greatly. There are many aspects of a human life that binds people together, whether it is professional, religious, economic or geographical. Every society has a set of rules that all members should follow to maintain order.

A society can also be formed by like minded individuals despite the differences in cultural or geographical origins. People share a certain part of their lives with others to exchange ideas and improve upon their present condition. Under the umbrella of ‘society’, you can explore subcultures, spirituality, philosophy and religion. Other aspects include law, military and even paranormal beliefs.

Human societies share certain characteristic features that bind them together and consist of individuals who are dependent on each other for social and economical benefits. Humans share different kinds of relationships with each other and with ideas. Some of the major ideas that revolve around the human society are governance, philosophies, spirituality and religion, careers, festivals and history.

It is also believed by certain philosophers that the human society is a social contract that restricts an individual from taking another's liberty. By appointing certain laws in any kind of society, all individuals are assuring themselves and others of fairness and equality.

While the rules of society remain the same, the domain has definitely shifted. With technological advancements, society soon moved to the virtual world. With the internet becoming a dominating part of everyone's lives, the rules of society continue to act on the virtual world.
