Vizumi has a clean updated feel and look. On the home page you will find a media player that plays short clips from various films that they offer. You will also find an offer for the Archos 605 which is a personal media player that allows you to download movies from Vizumi wirelessly. It's a really cool touch screen wireless media player that can store about 40 movies or 30GB on it's hard drive.
The service that Vizumi offers is an online movie rental store. You have the option of renting movies and purchasing movies.
If you choose to rent a movie you will have a seven day window in which you can watch the movie from the time you download it. You will have the option to stop, play, rewind and fast forward as many times as you would like during this seven day period.
Now you if purchase a movie to own it that is called a bundle. You will get two digital files to download one for your computer and a smaller file for a portable video player. Some movies also come with a DVD.
To register for an account all you need to do is click on the "register now" link that is located on the home page. Then complete the form and you are ready to download movies legally without ever leaving your home.
If you have any questions about how Vizumi works you can click on the "Help" tab. Here you will find an email link, a live chat link and a phone number. I just want to mention that you do need to be at least 18 years of age and have a valid credit card to be eligible for an account.
You can also find the minimum system requirements needed to watch the movies by clicking on the "System Requirements" tab under the "Help" tab.
Before I go any further with this review I just want to mention that Vizumi is in Beta and the store is in the process of being filled with videos.
On the left hand side of the page you will find links that are useful in helping you find a specific video or a video genre. The first link will reveal a list of High Definition downloads that are available. You will also find a link to a list of videos that are actually free for the day.
There are also several links to lists of videos that are under a certain price. For example if you clicked on the download under 1.99 pounds you will find videos under that price.
If none of the the links in the side bar navigation bar help you find a specific video you can always use the search box that is located above the fold at the top of the page.
My overall impression of Vizumi is that it is a very original idea - to me at least because I have never heard of a service like this. I can see this becoming very popular and this is something that I would personally use. Why get in the car and burn gas money to go to a video store to rent or buy a movie when I can do it right from my computer?
