I like to kick off a new website using a web directory submission service. For around 50.00 - 100.00 dollars you can find multiple services that will submit your website to around 500 free web directories.

Granted these web directories are free and they probably don't hold much weight with the search engines as long as they are indexed it will help you.

Next you can find blogs that are related to your websites theme. There is a little trick that makes this easier to do by using the following below...

Just copy and paste the above into your Google search bar and insert your keyword or phrase into it. Most of the results that are retrieved will be from blogger blogs.

Now go to the blogs and start posting relevant comments. Don't just throw your link up, create a useful post.

You can use the same technique for wordpress blogs...

Now it's time to create an account at popular forums that relate to your websites theme. You can create a signature on your forum account and this is where you will put your website link using the keyword as your anchor text.

Every post you make will have your signature attached to the bottom of it.

There are also link exchange programs where you can trade reciprocal links with other webmasters. I don't care for these type of websites as they are time consuming and I don't see many quality websites that use them. But if you want to check one at look at gotlinks. My suggestion is to just stay away from these.

The last and most productive way to get backlinks is buy purchasing them. Yes it cost money but you know exactly what you are getting.

I start with quality directories, you can find a directory list by clicking on the link.

Next I like to utilize forums such as Digital Points. They have a buy and sell links section and you can find good deals if you sift through the trash.

Don't go wild blowing your budget on paid links. Pick and choose your paid links carefully because you want some type of return on your investment.

Don't give up, building your backlinks is a constant battle. Once you hit the #1 spot for you keyword you are not safe. There is going to be someone nipping at your heels trying to take you spot.
