Supplemental Results
So what are supplemental results and why are your pages there?
Pages are placed in supplemental results because they are not as trusted by Google. There are several theories on why you may end up with pages in supplemental results.
1. Your page content is not original. Are you using articles from another site or do you have a scrapper website?
2.If you don't have any high quality links pointing to that specific page it could send you into supplemental results.
3. Meta tags and this one is important. You must use original keyword and description meta tags to avoid being tossed into supplemental.
4. The most recent find I have noticed is that Google will throw pages into supplemental results based on PageRank scores.
Generally pages that have been sent to supplemental will not rank as high in Google for your keywords.
Chances are that if you and original content, custom meta tags and a couple quality backlinks you should be able to pull out of the supplemental pages fairly quick.
If your blog pages are falling into supplemental results there are few things you can do.
1. Write longer post content is king. Most blog entries are only a paragraph or two and this make all your pages look the same to Google.
2. Again use unique meta tags on each page of your blog.
3. Some people say not to use Technorati tags because it will leak out your PageRank but that is really a personal preference. It's a trade off for traffic.
It will take more time to create an original unique website with fresh content but the payoff is far greater than using old content and scraper tools.
